Generative Engine
Optimization(05)Get named when AI puts the answer together.
When ChatGPT, Gemini or Google’s AI recommends businesses like yours, it builds the answer from sources all over the web. I make sure those sources say clear, consistent, good things about you, so you’re in the answer, and near the top.

What is generative engine optimization?
Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the work of getting your business named in the answers AI tools write: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode. Where AEO makes your own pages easy to quote, GEO shapes everything the AI reads about you, on your site and everywhere else.
Why it matters
When someone asks an AI tool who to hire, it doesn’t show ten links. It names a few businesses and explains why. If the sources it reads don’t mention you, can’t be read at all, or describe a competitor better, you’re left out or listed last.
How I do it
- Chapter 01 · 01–02Earn the recommendationGive AI clear reasons to pick you, on the sites it actually reads.
- Chapter 02 · 03–04Give AI what it needsFair comparisons it can quote, and a site it’s allowed to read.
- Chapter 03 · 05Move up the answerFrom somewhere in the list to named first, and described well.
01 · Earn the recommendation
AI recommendations
Give AI a reason to recommend you.
AI tools explain their picks: same-day service, a reefer specialist, great reviews. Those reasons come from what they can find. I make sure the facts that set you apart are stated clearly on your site and backed up elsewhere, so the AI has something concrete to say about you.

02 · Earn the recommendation
Source coverage
Be on the sites AI reads.
Each AI tool leans on its own mix of sources: Reddit, YouTube, review sites, directories, local news and industry publications. I find the ones cited for your category and get you properly represented on them, honestly, through real listings, reviews, coverage and community answers.

03 · Give AI what it needs
Comparison content
Answer the “which one should I choose” question.
People ask AI to compare: shop vs. dealer, you vs. a competitor, one option vs. another. I write fair, specific comparison pages, including when the other option is the better fit, because balanced comparisons are the ones AI trusts and quotes.

04 · Give AI what it needs
AI crawler access
Make sure AI can actually read your site.
If ChatGPT’s or Claude’s search crawlers are blocked, often by a firewall setting nobody remembers turning on, your pages can’t be cited. I check your robots.txt, firewall and how your pages load, and open access to the search crawlers. Training crawlers like GPTBot are a separate choice, and blocking them doesn’t remove you from search answers.

05 · Move up the answer
Answer positioning
Named is a start. Named first is the goal.
In AI answers, the business listed first usually gets the most detail and the most attention. I track where you appear and how you’re described, then close the gaps with whoever is named above you (clearer services, stronger proof, better coverage) until you’re described as specifically as they are.
